Getting the LIVE FEED
Photographer works to capture, tell stories
At almost every party, concert, or general social gathering, patrons can depend on spotting Leroy Smith — founder of Live Feed Jamaica — or one of his team members capturing top-quality photos.
“Live Feed is unique because of our premium quality, our unique coverage style and collages, as well as appealing graphics and regional coverage. At Live Feed Jamaica, we bring the heart and soul of the Caribbean to every event we cover. Our unique blend of local insight and global reach ensures that each story we tell is vibrant, authentic, and unforgettable. We don’t just capture moments; we celebrate cultures, connect communities, and create experiences that resonate worldwide,” the 26-year-old St Mary native told the Jamaica Observer.
A past student of Kingston College, Smith is the holder for a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism (major) and international relations (minor) from the Caribbean School of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) at The University of the West Indies.
He shared that he has always been determined to stamp his name in the world of photography as he works for the ‘right’ shot.
“For the perfect shot we take into account the regular pillars of photography; like composition, lighting, et cetera. But, we also consider timeliness and how emotive a moment is; essentially, the moment that will likely assure how memorable the image will be,” he said.
Smith added that storytelling through complementary visuals and audio helps to get the job done and secure legacy.
He and his team of 12 contractors have been to countries such as Trinidad and Tobago, St Vincent, Turks and Caicos Islands, Grenada, and have covered events like Brunch and Soca (Grenada), Igloo, Trinidad Carnival Road March, as well as Sunnation TT.
On the corporate side, the clientèle includes Heineken, CPJ, as well as Sunshine Snacks.
There are high hopes to continue to position Live Feed as the premier photography partners for global showcases.
“Ultimately, Live Feed Jamaica’s vision is to dominate the Caribbean region and the world where premium events and festivals are concerned. We aim to be major partners for Carnival bands and corporate sponsors across the region,” Smith said.
