Herbert Morrison wins fourth game in ISSA U19 basketball
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Leaders Herbert Morrison Technical won their fourth straight game in the Inter Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Rural Area Zone B Under-19 basketball competition on Monday after beating Ocho Rios High 67-20 in their replayed first round game at Herbert Morrison in St James.
Herbert Morrison led 37-5 in the second quarter on December 4th when the game was called off due to rain and, according to the rules of the competition, was restarted on Monday.
The win carried Herbert Morrison to eight points, three more than York Castle High and Ocho Rios High, both St Ann schools, tied on five points each.
In an Under-16 game that was also played on Monday, York Castle High beat Holland High 94-38.
In the senior game, Herbert Morrison’s Ryan Jurdine led all scorers with 18 points and Joshua Ferguson scored 16 as the home team led 17-0 after the first quarter, 37-4 at half time and 49-10 at the end of the third quarter.
Fabian Oliphant scored nine points for Ocho Rios High.
In the Under-16 game, York Castle High edged closer to leaders Herbert Morrison Technical after beating winless Holland High 94-38 with two players, Omar Campbell and Marcodean Frater, both scoring 31 points for the winners.
Antwan Wint scored 25 of Holland High’s 38 points.
