Hospital attendant charged with arson and burglary
CLARENDON, Jamaica—A female hospital attendant has been charged with arson and burglary following an incident in Havannah Heights, Clarendon on Friday, December 12.
Charged is 54-year-old Jennifer Bachan, also known as ‘Sandra,’ a hospital attendant in the Savoy district in Christiana, Manchester.
Reports from the May Pen police are that sometime in August 2025, Bachan and a man were involved in a dispute during which the man allegedly broke Bachan’s left foot. The matter was reported to the police, and the man was arrested and later charged.
On Friday, December 12, the man reportedly left his house. Later that same day, Bachan allegedly went to the man’s house, used a key to open the room door, and set a mattress ablaze.
She then ran from the premises and onto the roadway.
Citizens reportedly saw the fire and Bachan running from the area and alerted the police and the fire department. Upon their arrival, a cool down procedure was performed.
Bachan was apprehended at the scene and taken into custody on reasonable suspicion.
She was later charged after a question-and-answer session.
Her court date is being finalised.
