Marcue sheds light on alcoholism
Reggae fusion artiste Marcue has opted to use his art to shed some much-needed light on alcoholism.
The singer who recently released a much talked about music video entitled Just Can’t Let Go has sparked much conversation within the musical space because of its unfiltered depiction of alcoholism.
According to Marcue, his aim is to be an agent of change because addiction has affected members of his family.
“Addiction has touched people close to me, including family members. That personal experience inspired the creative/ visual direction of my single Just Can’t Let Go, which speaks to the struggles of coping with loss and the impact addiction can have on relationships and mental health,” Marcue stated.
The Kingston native, who describes his music as a melting pot of reggae, dancehall, R&B, pop and hip hop, says he believes more should be done to spread awareness about mental health issues affecting Jamaicans.
“I think there’s more work to be done. Awareness is growing, but we need more accessible resources, support networks and open conversations to help people truly recover,” Marcue stated.
The entertainer says he is currently adding the finishing touches to his EP under the guidance of a plethora of top flight producers, including the likes of Computer Paul, Stephen Stanley and Mark “Stone Cold” Hudson.
Just Can’t Let Go is currently available on YouTube and is slated to be officially released on December 31, 2025, on all major digital platforms.
