Courts and Mabe donate appliances to hurricane relief efforts
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Courts and appliance brand Mabe have partnered to donate household appliances as part of the ongoing relief effort following the effects of Hurricane Melissa.
The donation of appliances was made to relief organisation Food for the Poor (FFTP) to support its assistance to vulnerable communities across Jamaica. The handover included a combination of refrigerators, stoves and microwaves, which will be distributed to families in need through FFTP’s outreach programmes.
Phillip Roach, commercial director of Unicomer Jamaica, said the company is committed to making a meaningful difference.
“Courts has always believed in supporting the communities we serve. This partnership with Mabe allows us to directly impact families who need reliable appliances to improve their daily lives,” said Roach.
For Jannel Morrison, sales and marketing executive of Mabe, the contribution reflects its long-standing commitment to social responsibility.
“At Mabe, we design products that make life easier, and today, we extend that mission through this donation. We are honoured to work with Courts to provide essential appliances that will offer comfort, dignity and stability to families across Jamaica,” said Morrison.
In the meantime, Food for the Poor expressed appreciation for the continued support from the private sector, noting that the appliances will significantly enhance the living conditions of beneficiaries affected by Hurricane Melissa.
This donation follows several recent relief initiatives supported by Courts and the Unicomer Group, including partnerships with brands to provide furniture and appliances, as Jamaica continues to rebuild post Hurricane Melissa.
The latest donation is part of the company’s wider commitment of more than $75 million toward relief efforts for team members and the wider public.
