Glenmuir High, STETHS to face off in ISSA daCosta Cup final
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Glenmuir High and St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS) will meet in Saturday’s final of the ISSA daCosta Cup football competition after wins in Wednesday’s semi-finals over Dinthill Technical and Kemps Hill High respectively at Sabina Park.
Orane Watson scored twice for Glenmuir High in their come from behind 2-1 win over Dinthill Technical, while STETHS edged first time semi-finalists Kemps Hill 1-0.
Omarion Small had given Dinthill Technical the lead in the 47th minute with a good finish after playing a ‘give and go’ with Niclas Paris, firing into the far right corner of the Glenmuir High goal.
Watson,who thought he was denied a penalty in the first half, was taken down inside the 18-yard box and got up to convert the penalty in the 63rd minute to draw his team level at 1-1.
Watson then scored the winner when he lobbed the ball over the head of Dinthill Technical’s goalkeeper Dante Clarke in time added at the end of the second half.
In the second game, STETHS got the better of Kemps Hill with a 48th minute goal from Kemoy Banton who was sent through on goal with a pass from Kaieem Lewis.
