Daybreak’s @10
Decade-marking, brunch-chic edition to supporting hurricane relief
When the latest staging of Daybreak breakfast party unfolds this Sunday, December 21, on the lawns of Sabina Park, the event will be held with a new purpose.
Several members of the event’s organising team were impacted by the passage of Hurricane Melissa and, out of concern for the many people who were affected across the island, part proceeds from this staging will go towards hurricane relief efforts.
“Daybreak has always been about community, not just celebration. After the hurricane we knew many of our patrons, partners, and wider Jamaican family were directly affected. Giving back wasn’t an add-on, it was a responsibility. We wanted Daybreak to be a platform for hope, relief, and togetherness at a time when the country needed it most,” Jywanza Hall, a director of Daybreak told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash on Wednesday.
“What inspired our move to give back was seeing how deeply the hurricane impacted families and communities we know and interact with every day. Daybreak was built in Jamaica, by Jamaicans, for Jamaicans. When the country is hurting, we believe the brand should respond with heart and action, not silence. Some members of our extended Daybreak family were affected in different ways, whether through property damage, disruptions, or having loved ones impacted. That made the decision even more personal. This wasn’t charity from a distance; it was support coming from within the same shared experience,” Hall added.
Several top-flight DJs have been enlisted to provide the party vibes at Daybreak.
“We have a carefully curated line-up of some of Jamaica’s most respected and crowd-moving DJs, such as Coppershot Sound with DJ Cutty and Kitt, DJ Franco and Brush1, DJ Jigga, A-Team, Nico Lee and DJ Insaneo. The music journey will flow from feel-good classics to high-energy anthems — perfectly matching the Daybreak vibe from start to finish,” said Hall.
“This staging is a true celebration of resilience and joy. Patrons can expect elevated brunch-chic vibes, premium food and drink experiences, immersive décor, and a high-energy yet elegant atmosphere. It’s a 10th anniversary celebration, so everything from production to experience has been taken up a level,” Hall disclosed, while highlighting the elements in place to ensure patrons a good time.
“We’ve curated experiences that stimulate all the senses — great music, beautiful visuals, comforting food, and intentional moments of joy. From seamless service to surprise ‘wow’ moments throughout the event, the goal is for patrons to feel free, present, and uplifted — even if just for a few hours,” Hall added.
