Labourer charged with 2011 double murder in St Elizabeth
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — A 41-year-old labourer has been charged in connection with the murder of two men in Middle Quarters, St Elizabeth in 2011.
The deceased have been identified as 24-year-old Andrew Grey and 19-year-old Dave Davis, both of Middle Quarters.
The accused, 41-year-old Andre Daniels, also of Middle Quarters, has been charged with two counts of murder, wounding with intent, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and assault at common law.
Reports from the Black River Police are that on Thursday, June 9, 2011, about 8:00 pm, Daniels visited the home of a woman with whom he reportedly had an ongoing dispute. While there, he allegedly pulled a firearm from his waistband and opened fire on the occupants of the house, hitting three people before escaping on foot.
The injured persons were taken to the hospital, where Grey and Davis were pronounced dead. The third injured individual was treated and admitted.
A report was subsequently made to the police, and an investigation was launched.
On Tuesday, December 16, Daniels was arrested during a targeted operation and later charged following a question-and-answer session.
His court date is being finalised.
