Mohanlal wins Miss Ruth Trophy in commanding fashion
MOHANLAL, a two-year-old bay colt by Casual Trick – Raise Your Voice, dominated the $1.01-million Miss Ruth Trophy feature at Caymanas Park on Saturday, winning the six-furlong (1,200m) contest by a commanding 10 lengths.
Trained by Hall of Famer Richard Azan and ridden by Tajay Suckoo, Mohanlal’s victory was a showcase of his speed and talent as he easily won ahead of For My Love (Aaron Chatrie) and Brilliant Boy (Raddesh Roman).
Mohanlal settled in second position at the off behind Another Quality (Shane Ellis). Once he took over approaching the distance it was all smooth sailing for Mohanlal as the colt left rivals in his wake to battle for the minor shares.
Mohanlal stopped the ticking of the clock in the Maiden Special Weight contest for native-bred two-year-olds at 1:16.2 (24.2 x 49.4 x 1:02.3).
Trainer Peter-John Parsard should not be left out of the celebration party as he saddled three winners on the nine-race card. His winners were Uncle Peck (Dane Dawkins) in the third race,
Feeling Free (Jereau Stewart) in the sixth race, and I’m Outstanding (Bebeto Harvey) in the seventh race.
The action continues today with another nine-race card.
