Recording artiste Chico Dancehall has yielded positive reviews for his first EP Wildcard.
With majority of the production credits also going to him, the entertainer released the project on November 28.
“The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The lead single — NyQuil — featuring Tk Kiss, has become a major favourite among listeners. Fans have particularly praised the project for its blend of nostalgia and current trends, noting that the sound brings back the best elements of classic dancehall energy,” Chico Dancehall, whose given name is Patrick Walker told the Jamaica Observer.
The artiste has an extensive catalogue spanning 350 songs, Chico Dancehall explained that the EP represents his resilience and self-belief.
“I chose myself as a wild card as my mission was uncomplicated. The inspiration for Wildcard was to showcase the full versatility of my new sound as I’ve evolved drastically. It represents the different dimensions of dancehall — moving from high-energy, contemporary tracks to more inspirational and soulful, classic,” he said.
With growing momentum he is also hopeful about the resonance among listeners heading into a new year.
“My ultimate hope for Wildcard is for it to raise new awareness and successfully serve as the musical blueprint and promotional catalyst for my upcoming major tours across America, the Caribbean, and Europe in 2026. Ultimately, it is designed to build anticipation for, and flawlessly set the stage for the release of my first reggae studio album,” he said.
Chico Dancehall plans to remain consistent in music, as he sets up to become an international star in the coming years.
“To my dedicated fans and the wider public I want to extend sincere gratitude for all the love and support shown throughout my career. I wish everyone a safe, peaceful, and joyous festive season. Keep the vibes up, and look out for some exciting announcements coming early in the new year,” he added.
