Intrestntimesahead dominates Will In Charge Trophy feature
In an electrifying performance, four-year-old bay colt Intrestntimesahead easily brushed aside rivals in the third running of the $1.25-million Will In Charge Trophy feature race at Caymanas Park on Sunday.
Trained by Jason DaCosta and ridden by Anthony Nunes, Intrestntimesahead led almost every step of the way, beating stablemate Brenda Boy and Mark My Identity by 2 ¼ lengths in the Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over one mile (1,600m). The winning time was recorded at 1:40.1 (24.2 x 48.0 x 1:14.0 x 1:26.1).
This win marks a significant turnaround for Intrestntimesahead, who had struggled to replicate his 2024 Jamaica St Leger success, previously winning just once from eight starts this season and this victory could be the catalyst for a resurgence.
It was the second winner on the day for DaCosta, who had earlier saddled Taylor Made (Abigail Able) in the $1.01-million SunnySide Stakes, a native-bred two-year-old maiden special weight event over five furlongs (1,000m) round.
Also with two winners on the nine-race card were trainer Anthony Nunes and jockey Dane Nelson. Nunes and Nelson teamed up with Brahma Bull to win the eighth race.
Nunes’ other winner was The Real Identity (Raddesh Roman) in the first race, while Nelson was a winner aboard Wicked Cassie for trainer Patrick Lynch in the fourth race.
Racing continues on Friday.
