Fisherman charged for Rocky Point triple murder
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A 26-year-old fisherman, Daniel Henry has been charged with three counts of murder after allegedly using a machete to chop his mother, brother and a cousin to death on December 18 in Rocky Point in Clarendon.
Dead are Annette Lindo, a domestic helper and vendor; 32-year-old fisherman Lynval Henry and Ingrid Keisha Lindo.
Observer Online understands that Henry made his first appearance in court on Monday when he was remanded. It is unclear when his next court appearance will be.
The tragedy still has residents in shock even days later, according to fisherman Winston Simms who spoke to the Observer Online on Tuesday.
“He was wrong. It look like him head chip out but you can’t give him any right for that. One of the time about two years ago he had his little brother beating him with a shovel. Me and another man get him off the brother and the brother ran through the bushes. After beating the brother, he was coming after me and the man and we had to pick up some stones,” Simms said.
The Observer Online visited the community last week and residents claimed that Henry had been behaving strangely over a number of years and even had to be taken to seek professional help.
They shared that on the morning of the day when the triple murder occurred, Henry was a part of a crew that was heading out to sea to fish. While on the sea, he allegedly told the others that he had a vision that everyone who lived in his yard were dead.
The crew abandoned the morning fishing mission and brought Henry back to shore. When checks were made, everyone at Henry’s house was safe. He was taken to the doctor and was released.
Residents said that when he arrived home from the doctor, he was acting normal and even cooked a meal for members of the household. After everyone ate, Henry allegedly attacked them with a machete, killing them.
