T.O.K. gifts homes for Christmas
Singing group gives back after successful 2025
Two families impacted by the passage of Hurricane Melissa will be gifted prefab homes for Christmas courtesy of international dancehall group Tribe Of Kings (T.O.K)
The homes were purchased from MVP Imports Limited with proceeds made from a successful Japan tour between November 21-24.
Jamaica Festival (JAMAFES) were instrumental in bringing the group to the country for the tour.
“We wanted to be able to truly help someone get back on their feet. The home is the foundation, the beginning and end of each day. People need homes to go about their daily lives,” T.O.K member Craig “Craigy T” Thompson told the
Jamaica Observer’s Splash.
Prefabricated homes, often referred to as prefab homes or simply prefabs, are specialist dwelling types of buildings, which are manufactured off-site in advance, usually in standard sections that can be easily shipped and assembled. It consists of factory-made components or units that are transported and assembled on-site to form the complete building. Various materials were combined to create a part of the installation process.
Meanwhile, Craigy T added that for the group — which also includes Alistaire “Alex” McCalla, Roshaun “Bay C” Clarke, and Xavier “Flexx” Davidson — will decide on the recipients on a referral basis.
“Through recommendations from our people on the ground and social media. The foundation for these homes must be properly prepared as well, so we must also consider structural requirements,” he explained, adding that he gives freely from the heart every day and sees it as a duty.
“[The year] 2025 was tough, but it nuh tougher than we. Our spirit and resilience shine through it all. No matter what happens, this is Jamaica; we God-bless and we will always stand tall,” the entertainer added.
As loved ones gather to celebrate Christmas, Craigy T said the group is also looking forward to quality time before heading back into the studio and “on the road”.
“So we nuh fi rest and eat Christmas dinner, too?! We decided to end 2025 at home on the Rock with family. If there is one good thing that came from tragedy, it’s that the bond of family is extremely important, and we must cherish that. Work begins again in 2026,” he told Splash.
