RACE DAY REVIEW FOR SUNDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2025
The opening event on the programme of nine races gave notice that it would be a relatively good day for former three-time champion conditioner Anthony Nunes and 2024 champion and 2025 designate-jockey Raddesh Roman. Starting at odds of 8-5, the lightly raced five-year-old dark bay horse The Real Identity, a progeny of Bern Identity, won the six-and-a-half-furlong gallop by just over six lengths to open a double opportunity for both rider and trainer.
Race two, over seven furlongs, provided Roman with a “racing certainty” in the form of Successful Man (3-2), trained by former jockey Errol Burke, who came home nearly 10 lengths clear of its nearest rival. Christopher Mamdeen, the 2019 champion reinsman, induced his mount Blind Vengeance(5-2), a three-year-old maiden declared by Colin Ferguson, to lead for the entire five-and-a-half furlong trip of race three to score by nearly a length.
Patrick Lynch’s US-bred four-year-old filly Wicked Cassie won the fourth event with former four-time champion Dane Nelson making it two consecutive successes with his assistance, thus adding to her seven-length romp on Mouttet Mile Day. The dark bay progeny of Graded Stakes winner Wicked Strong (USA) was three and a quarter lengths clear at the finish of the eight-furlong exertion.
Trainer Michael Caine Jr, who doubles as Omega Radio and Supreme Ventures Racing & Entertainment Limited analyst, turned out Restoration (7-2) in three-length winning form to better 3-5 favourite, Jason Dacosta’s Undisclosdlocation (Robert Halledeen) over the four-furlong straight dash of race five.
Owner of Undisclosdlocation 2024 champion Carlton Watson, with 43 winners this year, has equalled late bookmaker and Mandeville Mayor Cecil Charlton with the most in any one season. With two race days remaining, it will be interesting to see if Watson will become the sole record holder.
Whilst in race six, sprinted over five-and-a-half-furlongs, the five-year-old maiden horse Shine For Me was in front early, and although drifting significantly towards the stand side, still won by three and a half lengths for trainer Paul Swaby with top claimer Demar Williams executing the riding instructions.
DaCosta with a $10-million lead over nearest rival Nunes, registered the first of a double on the card with Abigail Able riding her second winner of the season. Debutant juvenile Taylor Madeb(1-2) and rider did nothing wrong as the grey filly sprinted clear early and won the five furlongs round seventh event by two and a half lengths.
Race eight, run at six furlongs, was won from in front by Brahma Bull(2-5), who had a length and a half to spare over the runner-up Native Flyer(3-1). Therefore, Nunes and Nelson confirmed their double successes with this winning run from the lightly raced Brahma Bull, a three-year-old progeny of Sunshine N Shadow.
Winner of last season’s St Leger Intrestntimesahead, absent from the winners’ enclosure since the third week of May, took on nine rivals and returned to form in style in the featured eight-furlong Will In Charge Trophy. The four-year-old dual Classic winner was turned out in immaculate condition by the champion trainer.
Driven to lead early by Anthony Allen, from then on, it was a display of speed, stamina, and courage by Intrestntimesahead to thwart the sustained challenge of the progressive three-year-old colt Mark My Identity (9-5). Intrestntimesahead eventually won by just over two lengths ahead of stable companion Brenda Boy to confirm the DaCosta stable double.
The Training Feat Award is presented to DaCosta for the return to form of Intrestntimesahead to deliver the feature event in good style whilst executing the Best Winning Gallop with the assistance of Allen, who receives the Jockeyship Award.
