Fanatic delivers on vibes and high energy
With universities on Christmas break, students flocked the most recent staging of Fanatic for a night of high energy and vibes. They were not disappointed.
Held last Saturday, December 20, at 36 Hope Road, Fanatic delivered the goods.
With the high-riding Tommy Lee Sparta and a cadre of prolific DJs turning up the heat musically, patrons danced up a storm — forming ‘Conga’ lines, dancing in groups, and taking over the venue.
DJ Insaneo, who put in a good set alongside Kevi The Kinetic, explained how he prepares for an event like Fanatic.
“Really and truly still, mi just come and read the crowd and just play accordingly. The turnout was good and, one thing with Fanatic, it always ram, and ram from early,” DJ Insaneo told the Jamaica Observer.
He shared a high point of his presentation was “when the girl dem start to whine and gwaan wid dem self”, he said.
Kevi The Kinetic said he was just in an experimental mode when he dished out hits such as Roddy Ricch’s Billboard #1 Da Box, Tommy Richman’s 2004 platinum-certified hit Million Dollar Baby, Cardi B’s #1 hit Bodak Yellow (Money Moves), and dancehall bangers Underwater and Fever by Vybz Kartel.
“I did some transitions that just came to me same time; nuttin serious, just vibes,” said Kevi The Kinetic, who was making his third appearance at Fanatic.
MC Ace and Carlos A-Team were also in fine form. Ace interacted with the crowd challenging them to do various dance moves, while Carlos A-Team spun the hits, including a soca remix of DJ Khaled’s All I Do Is Win, Beez in the Trap by Nicki Minaj, Malie Donn’s explosive V6, Shenseea’s
Side Chick Song, and Ding Dong’s Bup Bup Bup.
“What we do as MCs is to bring class to an event. We practise every day, so when we come to an event like Fanatic we just deliver. And this is something that we love to do; wi mek people feel the energy weh we have fi it,” said Ace.
Carlos A-Team said it’s his first official stint on Fanatic.
“We had to bring the same energy that we bring to all the other events. Big up, Fyahman, the event gwaan good, and we just want dem to continue the same energy,” Carlos A-Team stated.
ZJ Romzii alongside Brush1 and Kryptic kept the musical vibes flowing until Tommy Lee Sparta’s performance.
Taking the stage, the deejay got down to business delivering Rich Badness, Psycho, Price, and
Blessings. The patrons sang along.
Bradley Wright, a director of CNA Entertainment, promoters of Fanatic, was pleased with the night’s run of events.
“The execution came together well on the night. The visuals and media coverage helped capture the intensity of the event and Tommy Lee Sparta [gave a] standout performance. The crowd’s energy added to the atmosphere and brought the experience to life. For me, it was a proud moment to see our vision translate into a night our patrons truly connected with,” Wright told the Jamaica Observer.
Dominic Bell, communications manager at Campari, title sponsor for Fanatic, shared: “Fanatic remains an essential partner in cultural commerce, especially post-Hurricane Melissa, as those who can bring brands, creators, and communities together to transform authentic cultural moments into sustainable economic opportunities. Congratulations to the CNA Entertainment team on having another successful staging with our Campari brand. We were proud to serve our easy mix cocktail drinks responsibly, alongside the vibrant energy of authentic dancehall music and performances throughout the night.”
