GraceKennedy mourns passing of business leader Mable Tenn
KINGSTON, Jamaica — GraceKennedy has expressed deep sadness at the passing of businesswoman and former director Mable Tenn.
In a release, GraceKennedy described Tenn as a trailblazer whose journey was marked by resilience, entrepreneurial vision and an unwavering dedication to excellence. Her relationship with the company began in 1952 when she joined as secretary to then director Carlton Alexander. She later went on to establish successful businesses of her own, which were eventually acquired by GraceKennedy.
In 1972, Tenn made history as the first woman to serve on GraceKennedy’s board of directors, breaking significant gender barriers and paving the way for greater female representation in leadership within Jamaica’s private sector.
Beyond her corporate achievements, GraceKennedy noted that Tenn made meaningful contributions to initiatives supporting Jamaica’s agricultural sector and served as a powerful example to generations of Jamaican women aspiring to leadership roles.
The GraceKennedy family extended condolences to Tenn’s family, friends and all those inspired by her life, noting that her legacy and impact on both the company and the wider Jamaican society will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.
