11th staging of Eastern Extravaganza to ignite New Year’s Day
The eleventh staging of Eastern Extravaganza on New Year’s Day will feature a slew of dancehall’s top acts.
The free event is slated for Mountain View Oval, across from Excelsior High School, in St Andrew.
Those who wish to be a part of the VIP section will be required to pay $3,000 at the gate.
“We have Spragga Benz performing live for the first time on our stage, and we know that he’s an east Kingston native. Also, with all the controversy happening in dancehall we have three out of the four main artistes that are at odds with each other,” Director Judah Nugent told the Jamaica Observer.
The line-up will see Tommy Lee Sparta, Sizzla Kalonji, Beenie Man, Jahshii, Skeng, Jahmal Dunceman, Queen Ifrica, Pinchers, Horace Andy, Turbulence, Nhance, Hot Tutbine, X-Out Boss, and many others touching the stage.
The other organisers include CEO & Founder Rayon Thompson, alongside directors Kirvan Cole, Dunstan Baker, and Secretary Roshena Broderick.
Meanwhile, Nugent said that he and the team have been pulling out all the stops of a massively successful show.
“Preparations are going very well. We, the promoters, are in high spirits as we look forward to yet again execute the biggest one-night stage show in East Kingston,” he said.
The promoter continued: “What makes us unique from others is that, from a production standpoint, no corners are cut. We use the best and we hire the best from Clearsound Productions to the backing bands Ruff Kutt… Even the camera crew to ensure the end result is one to talk about. We also have to take the time out to big up all the artistes who made themselves available amidst their busy schedules to be a part of this event. Without them it wouldn’t be what it is today.”
Gates will open at 8:00 pm with showtime set for 10:00 pm.
Part proceeds will be donated to charitable organisations to assist victims of Hurricane Melissa. There will also be a donation booth where patrons can give cash, non-perishable food items, and clothing to assist.
“People should attend because this is the only show of its kind where you see all of these artistes for free in a safe and secured environment…. Those wondering about parking, parking will be at both Excelsior High School and Exed Community College for general parking, and VIP parking will be at the Mountain View Primary School,” said Nugent.
“A big thank you to our sponsors Rum-Bar Rum, Clearsound Productions, Dragon, Honey Bun, Pepsi, PAJ Imports, Street Smart Auto, Noyar Modern Enterprise Ltd, SR Music Entertainment Factory, Romiech Entertainment, Urban Gurrillaz, Suncity Radio, One Umbrella, Excelsior High School, Exed Community College, Mountain View Primary, and A & A Decor,” he added.
