Galiday Bounce postponed amid dispute with show’s headliner Kraff
Galiday Bounce, the New Year’s Eve event, scheduled for the Amazura Concert Hall in New York and headlined by dancehall artiste Kraff, has been postponed.
Tensions flared on Wednesday after the event’s promoter Galdiez Mendez, took to social media to criticise Kraff for allegedly not fulfilling contractual obligations, despite funds being paid in advance for the event.
“Peeps this has nothing to do with me. Me deh a Hilton a wait on the boy (Kraff). Foota Hype is here. Tatik is here. Everybody on the show who to perform is here in New York City. I am here as the promoter. Get to understand that the boy, say him no do ads and him now do flyer. So me say weh you mean you don’t do ads? You have my money. What do you mean you don’t do ads? How the people them ago know say you deh on the show. Me, as a promoter for Galiday Bounce, can’t just show that to people that want to see it on your page,” Mendez said in a video.
“So me have to get into a point where me have to get a connect to him in Jamaica and make him know, get me ads done. That is how him do the little fy ads. Neven mention the show weh a pay him, Galiday Bounce inna it and this J***o a come on the phone, a come tell people, a put out note bout him no know bout. See the hotel them yah. Everything book. him suite, two suite, book here, everything is here. Over here at the Double Tree Hotel in Queens, New York,” he added.
Mendez claimed that funds paid for promotional services and contracts were not delivered as agreed, despite him spending approximately US$59,000 on the event. He further insisted that Kraff return a payment he reportedly made for his performance.
“You have to run back my money, boy. $21786. You have to run it back. I like it. Don’t b*d c**T play with my boy….You have to run back my money,” he added.
However, Kraff’s management team in a statement on Tuesday said the Sinna singer will no longer be performing at Club Amazura for Galiday Bounce noting that: “Kraff, his management, the booking agent, and other intermediaries allowed the promoter extensive time and repeated good-faith opportunities to resolve outstanding issues and move the show forward, which is why this announcement is being made on the eve of the event.”
It added that at no point was the performance contracted, discussed, or approved as a benefit concert.
“At no point was this performance contracted, discussed, or approved as a benefit concert. The artist and his team only became aware of that characterisation yesterday, after it appeared in media coverage and promotional materials, and following the promoter’s refusal to honor their contractual obligations,” the statement said.
“Kraff and his team take professionalism seriously and will not compromise on safety, travel logistics, or production standards. Financial and operational responsibility for the event rested with the promoter,” it added.
Ticket holders were advised to contact the promoter or their point of purchase directly regarding refunds.
It said Kraff looks forward to returning to New York under the “right circumstances.”
Galiday Bounce was set to feature performances from artistes such as Kraff Tatik, Kkrytical, Sita, Foota Hype, Joe Young, FyaaMan, and Kayson Full Charge.
