Dwight Smith takes over as head coach of Spanish Town Police FC
Promising coach Dwight Smith has taken over as head coach of Spanish Town Police FC for he remainder of the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League season.
Smith is the coach of Old Harbour United, which acquired Spanish Town Police recently.
He came to prominence as the assistant coach to Vassell Reynolds when Kingston College won the Manning Cup and the all-island Olivier Shield titles in 2024.
The 39-year-old Smith is the holder of CONCACAF B and C licenses and is currently on the verge of completing his UEFA C License.
Smith will replace Brian Spencer as head coach at the struggling Spanish Town Police, which are rooted at the bottom of the 14-team league on eight points from 14 games, inclusive of 10 defeats and just two wins.
Smith, who will turn 40 on Saturday, January 3, previously served as assistant coach at Vere United (Jamalco) and head coach of the Vere Women’s team. He was also the head coach of Clarendon Under-15 and the head coach at Kemps Hill High School from 2012 to 2023.
