Fortuna Belle the top pick in Security Department Trophy

The $1.25-million Security Department Trophy, an Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight, takes centre on tomorrow’s nine-race card.

Below is the analysis of each runner and their chances of winning:

1. LABAN: (9 b h by Sensational Slam – For Trixie) — Laban is having a tough time and is likely to be left behind in this field. His recent form hasn’t been impressive and it’s hard to see him posing a threat here.

2. CHAMPION BUBBLER (USA): (7 b m by Tapiture – Countess Clare) — Was down the track in the Mouttet Mile, but Champion Bubbler has dropped down in class here and has been training well. Expect her to challenge for honours.

3. MAJOR DANGER (USA): (6 b h by Majestic City – Clean Eleven) — Major Danger has been winless in 10 starts, and it’s tough to see him winning here.

4. A GIFT FROM BEN: (7 ch m by Here Comes Ben – Sage’s Giftbox) — This one’s not looking too hot, and you can safely bypass her.

5. DIVINE FORCE (USA): (6 b h by Alternation – Dance America) — Divine Force isn’t in the mix and he’s not expected to win.

6. ANOTHER ONE: (4 b c by Aveenu Malcainu – Chinitagoodaz) — Another One won at this distance recently, clocking a quick 58.3 seconds. He is expected to put in a good effort here.

7. SMART TRICK: (5 b h by Casual Trick – Crafty Lady) — Not a lot of hope for this one.

8. NORBLAR: (6 b h by Wannabeaplayer – Special Degree) — Norblar was third behind
Mighty Gully at this distance. Expect him to run well again.

9. ZULU WARRIOR: (5 ch h by Soul Warrior – Lookatmenow) — Zulu Warrior’s been consistent, finishing second in his last two starts. He should be right at home at this distance and will make a brave bid for top honours.

10. COOKIE DAY N NIGHT: (6 ch h by Resurgence – Eloping Emma) — Cookie Day N Night will run his usual honest race, but it’s hard to see him upsetting the top contenders.

11. FORTUNA BELLE (USA): (6 dk b/br m by Uncaptured – Double Seven) — Fortuna Belle finished third on debut behind California Crown at 5 1/2 furlongs on November 29, 2025. She has worked well coming into this one and, given her pedigree and form, she could lead the field home.
