No stopping Phenomenal Power
The Anthony Nunes-conditioned Phenomenal Power returns for his second run on local soil tomorrow in what is expected to be another romp by the foreigner.
The race is a Restricted Stakes contest for imported three-year-olds and upward (non-winners of three) and native-bred three-year-olds and four-year-olds (non-winners of four) over 5½ furlongs (1,100m).
Below, the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide takes a close look at the runners and their chances of winning.
1) PHENOMENAL POWER (USA): (3 dk b c by Violence – Drinking Dixie) — Made an impressive debut on December 13, 2025, winning by 14¼ lengths over 5½ furlongs in 1:07.1.
Phenomenal Power has trained well coming into this race and is expected to put these away with the minimum of fuss. His speed and power make him a formidable opponent.
2. AMAZING FORCE (USA): (5 b h by Leofric – White Wedding Day) — This horse has been struggling lately and it’s hard to see him turning things around here. His recent form suggests he’ll be out of contention.
3. NUCLEAR JET: (4 ch c by Bern Identity – Nuclear Force) — Would prefer a bit longer distance, but Nuclear Jet is a classy sort and could chase home the favourite. He’s a horse to watch.
4. MISS MONEYPENNY: (4 ch f by Bern Identity — Pomeroy’s Secret) – This speedy filly should make her presence felt with her quick pace but is expected to falter in the latter stages of the race.
5. NEBUCHADNEZZAR: (4 ch c by Soul Warrior — Queen of Bagdad) – Only in the race to make up numbers. He’s not expected to be a factor.
6. PAPI USO: (4 b c by Casual Trick – Runallday) — In here to test the deepness of the water.
