Pic-Nic hits all the right shots

Pic-Nic hits all the right shots

Pink umbrellas may have been a part of the décor for the Moët & Chandon Pic-Nic Festival on Saturday, but the only thing that was raining were fashionistas clad in their most elegant pink ensembles as they danced the night away.

Held on The University of the West Indies, Mona campus, Pic-Nic — a staple event in New York — proved that it resonates among the local crowd.

From flowery backdrops to oversized-metallic pink balls, and even a vintage bicycle flower prop, men and women alike had the perfect photo op stations to capture the memories of what went on for approximately seven hours.

To top it all off, there was a minutes-long fireworks display as a prelude to 2026.

Entertainment was provided by a stellar line-up of A-Team, Chromatic Live (Creep and Jr), Bloodline Franco and Brush1 The Road Marshal, DJ Cali B, Kryptic, and Bishop Escobar.

Almost every genre was represented across the last three decades. This appeased to the diverse patronage.

The classy affair saw Champagne and wine being the order of the night for many, while others opted for harder choices such as Hennessy and Don Julio to sip from the complimentary pink cups.

Organisers of the festival had absolutely no complaints with its execution and the promising feedback that they received.

“An event like Pic-Nic needed extensive planning and preparation. Its heavy décor, nature and intricate production required a more creative touch to transform UWI Mona into the ‘Pink City’. Our biggest partner was Romiech Entertainment/Major Marketing as well as Young Kingz Ent. A big shout out to our title sponsor Moët & Chandon and Select Brands JA,” the Pic-Nic team told the
Jamaica Observer’s Splash.

The team said a lots of the effort was to greet the perfect ambience with the décor.

“The entire atmosphere of the event was the highlight! From the detailed pink tunnel entrance, which opened up to a huge 26 feet double-sided 3D backdrop, to the rose garden area, a picnic themed hookah lounge, and food court, and over 12 different photo op areas. This gave an immersive feel and the ladies could not get enough. Topping off the night with an amazing fireworks show paired with epic pop music from Katy Perry’s Firework and Kanye’s All Of The Lights,” they said.

The team indicated that this staging will not be one-off as Jamaican soil will continue to be prioritised for future stagings. The next one will be at VaCae Weekend in Ocho Rios, St Ann, slated for April 3-6, 2026.

“Even though Pic-Nic Festival has transcended beyond just the Jamaican market, we the curators are all Jamaicans and as such it was inevitable for us to bring Pic-Nic home. Pic-Nic is a female-dominated event and, let’s be real, where in the world has more beautiful women than Jamaica?,” the co-organisers added.
