Fortuna Belle eyes first local win
Fortuna Belle, a six-year-old American-bred dark bay/brown mare, looks all set to open her winning account on local soil in this afternoon’s $1.25-million Security Department Trophy feature going five furlongs (1,000m) straight at Caymanas Park.
She finished third on debut behind California Crown at five and a half furlongs (1,100m) on November 29, 2025, showing good speed from the off but weakening in the final stages to finish 3¼ lengths behind the winner.
Bred by Uncaptured out of Exclusive Quality mare Double Seven, Fortuna Belle has worked well coming into this one and, given her pedigree and form, she could lead the field home.
On Saturday, December 20, 2025, Fortuna Belle worked five furlongs out of the straight in 1:00.3 with four furlongs (800m) done in 46.0. One week later, the Robert Pearson trainee also worked five furlongs out of the straight, clocking 1:00.0.
The Overnight Allowance contest is positioned as the ninth and final event on the day with a post time of 5:20 pm. First race is at 12 noon.
While Fortuna Belle is the choice here, she’s got a tough field to crack, with Champion Bubbler,
Another One, Norblar, and Zulu Warrior all looking to take down the favourite.
These horses have been performing well, so it’ll be a competitive race. Champion Bubbler is dropping down in class, Another One has won at this distance, Norblar’s trained well, and Zulu Warrior’s been consistent — Fortuna Belle will need to bring her A-game to win this one.
