Apostle Shavon Lawrence chronicles struggles on EP
Apostle Shavon Lawrence takes listeners along with her on a personal journey with her seven-song EP titled Purpose Can’t Die.
Released on December 27, 2025, the project chronicles many of the struggles that she has experienced.
“The inspiration behind the title Purpose Can’t Die comes from the struggles and hardships I have endured throughout my walk with Christ. While serving faithfully at my former church I was demoted from my position as an ordained minister and was publicly displayed on the church’s Facebook and website pages for months. This experience occurred because of the purpose on my life, and the season God was transitioning me into — one that others did not believe or understand. Despite everything, God showed me that purpose cannot die,” Apostle Lawrence told the Jamaica Observer on Friday.
Purpose Can’t Die features production work by Dinesty Production, Delroy “Phatta” Pottinger, Phat Trax Records, among others.
Dane Lewis (drums) and Kyle Wright (keyboard) are among the musicians who worked on the project.
On the track Halfway with Jesus Lawrence shared the back story.
“This song was written during a period when I was backsliding while pregnant with my last son and still attending church. The Lord began to speak to me and made it clear that being halfway with Him was not enough. He called me to walk the straight and narrow path fully committed to Him,” Apostle Lawrence shared.
Other tracks that deal with personal issues are Stand By Me (a medley that reflects a season of intense spiritual warfare), Surround Me (which speaks about an attempt to tarnish her name), Bring You Out, In Love with Jesus, In Your Presence, and Hold On to Jesus.
Apostle Lawrence spent most of her formative years in Portmore, St Catherine. Raised in a close-knit family alongside two brothers and two sisters, she developed strong values rooted in faith, resilience, and service. She has been happily married to Prophet Ricardo Lawrence for the past eight years and, together, they faithfully serve in ministry.
She said her journey has been marked by trials, growth, and divine transformation, as God has continually moulded her into the vessel he ordained her to be.
She serves as a spiritual mother to many, offering guidance, healing, and restoration through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Apostle Lawrence’s ministry began through prayer calls and street meetings across the island, where she laboured alongside her husband under the name Kingdom Builders. In 2019, they officially launched the Spanish Town Road based Refuge Kingdom Deliverance Ministry.
Beyond the pulpit, Apostle Lawrence is the founder of Give Birth Mentorship School, established in 2022. The school focuses on spiritual development, leadership empowerment, and personal growth, and proudly celebrated its first graduation on July 28, 2024.
