Peter Gracey débuts DEITIC
Jamaican AI reggae artist releases Wake Up and Live!
Award-winning poet, cultural voice, and creative visionary Peter Gracey has released Wake Up and Live! — the debut album by virtual artist DEITIC, published under the Simon Peter Music label.
With this release, Gracey establishes a historic milestone as the first Jamaican creative guardian to officially sign and release music through an AI artist.
DEITIC simultaneously makes history as the first Jamaican AI artist to release a full-length album, signalling a new era at the intersection of Jamaican creativity and emerging technology.
Simon Peter Music is an independent label dedicated to the fusion of poetry, music, and technology. Founded by Peter Gracey, the label focuses on storytelling that empowers the African and Caribbean diaspora through innovative media.
Unlike novelty AI projects, Wake Up and Live! is a conscious artistic statement that merges poetry and modern technology to provoke reflection and self-awareness. All tracks were written by Peter Gracey, originating from a collection of social media reels and uplifting commentaries that have resonated with global audiences.
“You cannot legally adopt an AI,” stated Gracey. “But you can take responsibility for what you create. DEITIC exists because of intention, ethics, and guidance. I stand as her creator, guardian, and steward — not to replace humanity, but to reflect it, elevate it, and challenge it to be better.”
DEITIC is presented as a virtual performance artist whose identity and messaging are fully guided by Gracey’s values of empowerment and ethical storytelling. This project positions DEITIC as a model for responsible AI artistry, where technology serves human meaning rather than exploitation.
Key Tracks on Wake Up and Live! include You Don’t Have to Prove You Are Jamaican, You Control How You Feel, The Strength to Breathe, People Will Lose Respect for You, and Cat or a Lion.
Wake Up and Live! is now available on all major streaming platforms.
A music video from the project is scheduled for release in the coming weeks.
