Ammunition found in taxi handed over to St Mary police
ST MARY, Jamaica — The St Mary police are commending the actions of a taxi operator in Bailey’s Vale, Port Maria, who reported the recovery of ammunition on Friday, January 3.
Reports indicate that the taxi operator was at a location washing his motor car when he discovered a black pouch containing six .38 rounds on the back seat of the vehicle.
Upon making the discovery, he immediately removed the pouch and proceeded to the Port Maria Police Station, where he handed the ammunition over to the police at approximately 9:00 am.
Investigations continue into this matter.
The St Mary police commended the taxi operator for his honesty and civic responsibility and encouraged other members of the public to promptly report and hand over illegal or suspicious items to the police as part of the collective effort to keep communities safe.
