DaCosta scores one-two finish at Mahoning Valley
Local champion trainer Jason daCosta achieved a one-two finish at Mahoning Valley racetrack in the United States on Friday, January 2, 2026.
Gallant Groom, ridden by Fernando Salazar Becerra, won the second race over six furlongs, beating
Suzie Q’s Sister, another daCosta runner, into second place with Chelsey Keiser in the saddle.
The post-race report reads as follows: “Gallant Groom got crowded a bit leaving the start then was caught in traffic in the early stages, advanced into the turn, angled five wide to upper stretch and was full of run to the furlong grounds, took command past mid-stretch, drew off into the final furlong and was hand-ridden to the wire for a good debut win.”
