Treasure Beach and Dunbeholden seek elusive win
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — Treasure Beach FC and Dunbeholden FC will both be hoping for a well-needed win on Wednesday when they meet in a rescheduled first-round Jamaica Premier League game at the St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex, set to start at 3:00 pm.
The game was originally scheduled to be played on November 12th, but was pushed back after Treasure Beach had been granted an additional two weeks to prepare for the restart after the passage of Hurricane Melissa, which caused extensive damage in St Elizabeth.
Another game that was rescheduled for Wednesday, Harbour View hosting Mount Pleasant FA, was further rescheduled, as at least seven members of the Caribbean Cup champions have been called up to represent Jamaica in a friendly international against Grenada on Sunday.
With four points separating sixth place (Chapelton Maroons — 18 points) and 12th place (Harbour View — 14 points), a win for either team would see them moving up in the tables.
Dunbeholden FC are in 11th place on 14 points from 11 games played, two more than Treasure Beach, who have played 12 games, and the teams will be meeting for the first time since the 2023-24 season, when both games ended in draws.
Dunbeholden FC have lost once in their last eight games but have managed just three goals over that span, with five games ending in 0-0 draws.
The St Catherine-based club has scored just five goals and faces a Treasure Beach team that is expected to welcome additional players after they had only 15 players for Sunday’s 1-2 loss to Montego Bay United.
Treasure Beach have lost their last three games, all by one-goal margins, but will be hoping to rebound on Wednesday with a win that would see them move above Dunbeholden FC.
