Excelsior dismiss STETHS to claim Olivier Shield
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Excelsior High were crowned all-island schoolboy football champions on Thursday, defeating St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) 2-0 to claim the Olivier Shield at the Stadium East field.
Terrence Williams and Kivann Salmon sealed the wins for the Manning Cup champions with goals in the 10th and 87th minutes, respectively.
It is the Eagles’ their third hold on the Olivier Shield and their first outright lien following shared successes in 2003 with Frome Technical and in 1993 with Rusea’s High.
Williams scored the opener in the 10th minute from the penalty spot while Salmon clinched the victory in the 87th minute with a low drive from just inside 18 yards.
