Papa San releases first EP My Worship
Veteran gospel deejay Papa San is hoping to win souls with the release of his first EP titled My Worship.
The six-song project was released January 1 via Beloved Records and it serves as precursor to his full-length album, which is due later this year.
“I am hoping that these songs will be able to… reach people’s hearts, and people can in turn receive Christ. The message that I would like them to take away from the album is to just know that you are in Christ, and once you have Christ you can smile. We’re looking for people to be lifted up and be built up in Christ. For the unbeliever, I want them to come to know Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour. That’s the ultimate for me,” Papa San told the Jamaica Observer on Wednesday.
Since he became a born-again Christian in 1997, after a more than 12-year stint in secular music, Papa San has to date released eight full-length studio albums. His 2014 album One Blood remains his only chart-topper on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
My Worship features the songs Don’t Worry, featuring Tiffany Hall (produced by multi-platinum-selling producer Dwayne “Supa Dups” Chin-Quee), Stay Time, Nobody Like You, Radar, No Flesh, and Fill Me Up.
Papa San shared how the collaboration with Tiffany Hall came about.
“Tiffany is amazing. It’s a song that I heard that she did and I loved it the first time that I heard it. She was on the One Blood album [featured on the track Show Me]. Supa Dups did the remix and it’s amazing. God is good,” said Papa San.
He shared that he is very excited about the project but the work is not all done.
“I do nothing without prayer, and we continue to do the finishing work for the full album which is coming out later this year,” Papa San said, while highlighting what he enjoyed most about working on the project.
“I’m an album person and I enjoy working on this project. I enjoyed the togetherness, the love, and we’re all believers in Christ. I enjoyed working with everyone,” he said.
Papa San’s son Timothy and brother Brian also contributed to the production of My Worship. Some of the musicians include Izrael and Kenny P.
Now residing in Florida, Papa San and his wife, Debbie, are ordained ministers and started Our Father’s Kingdom International Ministries there 12 years ago.
