Arnett Gardens seek top six spot in JPL

Arnett Gardens seek top six spot in JPL

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Arnett Gardens could make a big move up the tables in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) on Monday with a win over relegation-threatened Harbour View Football Club (FC) in their second round game set to start at 7:30 pm at the Anthony Spaulding Complex.

Tivoli Gardens will be seeking to solidify their play-off spot on Monday as well when they take on last-placed Spanish Town Police FC at Dunbeholden Community Centre, starting at 3:00 pm.

Arnett Gardens are currently in 10th position on 16 points and a win would see them vault into at least seventh position, on goal difference over Chapelton Maroons.

The South St Andrew-based club will be seeking their second win over Harbour View this season after beating the east Kingston side 5-2 in the first round for their first points of the season.

Arnett Gardens are coming off a confidence-boosting 3-0 win over defending champions Cavalier Soccer Club (SC) and will face a Harbour View team that has won once in their last eight outings and has lost their last two games.

Since coming from behind three times in a 4-4 draw against Montego Bay United, Harbour View have only three goals in four games but have only scored twice in that same span.

Tivoli Gardens could create some breathing room in the top six with a win on Monday, which would move them three points clear of Chapelton, both from 15 games played.

Tivoli will be without Anthony Nelson, who was sent off in time added in their 2-2 draw against Portmore United, but will still hope to reprise their first-round win over Spanish Town.

Spanish Town Police are at rock bottom on eight points but with two wins in their last three games and with a change in management and in coaching, will be hoping for back-to-back wins for the first time at this level.
