Foreign ministry expresses condolences following death of Ambassador Curtis Ward
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade says it is saddened by the passing of Ambassador Curtis Ward, who died on Sunday.
Ward died at his home in Maryland in the United States (US).
He served Jamaica as Alternate Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Jamaica to the United Nations in New York from 2000 to 2001, with special responsibility for matters related to Jamaica’s non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council, from January 2000 to December 2001.
Recalling his distinguished service, Portfolio Minister Kamina Johnson Smith noted that Ward would be remembered for the important role he played in Jamaica’s active engagement on the United Nations (UN) Security Council during those two years.
“Ambassador Ward will also be remembered for his willingness and availability to share his perspectives on foreign policy matters with the people of Jamaica and the wider Caribbean. To his family and friends, the ministry extends deepest sympathies on this irreparable loss and trusts that they will find comfort in the memories of the impact he made. May his soul rest in eternal peace!” the ministry said on Monday.
