Truck driver charged with embezzlement
ST ANN, Jamaica — A truck driver has been charged with embezzlement and larceny as a servant after he reportedly failed to hand over money collected on behalf of his employer in St Ann on Friday, December 12.
Charged is 36-year-old Sean Orridge of Begonia Lodge, Linstead in St Catherine.
According to police reports, Orridge, who was contracted to deliver goods and collect payment on behalf of a company he was employed by, received $301,812 on the aforementioned date. However, he reportedly failed to hand over the sum and could not give an account of where it was.
A report was made to the police, following which Orridge was taken into custody.
He was charged after he gave a caution statement in the presence of two Justices of the Peace on Friday, December 11.
He is scheduled to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday, January 16.
