Solar technician electrocuted in Santa Cruz
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — A solar technician was reportedly electrocuted on Main Street in Santa Cruz on Monday night.
Police have identified him as Steve White, 54, an electrician and resident of Pandarosa Drive, Old Porus in Manchester.
Preliminary reports suggest that about 7:00 pm, White was on a roof installing panels for a solar system at a plaza in Santa Cruz when he was electrocuted.
“The workmen said they saw a light flash, and he [cried] out and said he got shocked. They checked on him. He said he was alright. They said he walked off, took a few steps and then he just collapsed,” a relative told Observer Online.
White was taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
