Tivoli and Arnett score JPL win

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former champions Tivoli Gardens and Arnett Gardens scored wins over Spanish Town Police FC and Harbour View, respectively, on Monday as they continued their chase for playoff places in the Jamaica Premier League.

Tivoli Gardens edged Spanish Town Police FC 1-0 at Dunbeholden Sports Complex, and Arnett Gardens were 2-0 winners over Harbour View at the Anthony Spaulding Complex, both second-round games.

An own goal in the 90th minute from Lamar Davis saw Tivoli Gardens take all three points as they closed the gap on fifth-placed Cavalier SC to one point.

Tivoli Gardens are on 22 points, one behind Cavalier SC and three more than Arnett Gardens, who got a brace from the veteran Fitzroy Reid as they beat Harbour View for the second time this season.

Reid scored in the 13th and 35th minutes to take his goal tally to six, tied for the team lead with Rushike Kelson.

The loss was a third straight for Harbour View, who remained in 13th place on 14 points.
