TruFun Play opens in Drax Hall, expanding family recreation in St Ann
ST ANN, Jamaica — The official opening of TruFun Play last weekend added a new family-focused recreational option to the community of Drax Hall in St Ann, further strengthening the range of services now available to residents and visitors in the wider Ocho Rios area.
The purpose-built indoor play facility joins a growing list of businesses operating in Drax Hall, offering structured recreational opportunities for children in an area that has long lacked adequate indoor play options.
Founded and operated by entrepreneur and mother Kimona Myrie, TruFun Play caters to children between the ages of one and 14, with the capacity to host up to 80 children per hour in a safe, supervised and development-focused environment.
“I have always believed that children deserve spaces where they can feel safe, encouraged and free to be curious. TruFun Play was created not just for my daughter, but for every child whose parents want a safe, structured and joyful environment where their children can simply be kids,” a release quoted Myrie as saying.
The release added that the concept was inspired by Myrie’s daughter and by the limited availability of suitable indoor recreational spaces for young children in St Ann and neighbouring communities.
After relocating from Lucea, Hanover, to St Ann four years ago, Myrie committed herself to building both her family life and business in the parish, grounding TruFun Play firmly within the community it serves.
The facility features indoor ball pits, slides, trampolines, obstacle courses, supervised play zones, snack services and birthday party hosting. It also offers Saturday enrichment classes in self-defence, karate, art and culture, along with after-school care, ensuring a balance between fun, safety and child development.
Myrie has made a significant personal investment in the venture, including equipment, safety systems, staff training and operations, with additional backing from family members, her church community and close associates who supported the vision from its earliest stages.
With its doors now open, TruFun Play aims to grow alongside the families of St Ann, encouraging community partnership, local entrepreneurship and long-term investment in the parish’s future, reinforcing the importance of placing children and families at the centre of community development.
