Police seize gun in Manchester

MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Police in Manchester are reporting that a firearm was seized in the Belretiro district on Wednesday morning.

Head of the Manchester police, Superintendent Carey Duncan, in an audio release, said the weapon was seized about 12:30 am after cops attempted to apprehend two men in the area.

“Whilst they were there, they saw two men who aroused their suspicions. The police approached and accosted the men. The men ran [and] the police gave chase. The men, however, eluded them. During a subsequent search of the surroundings, they discovered a 9mm semi-automatic pistol fitted with a magazine containing six live 9mm cartridges,” Duncan said.
