Funeral service for Donald Oliver to be held at UWI Mona Chapel
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The funeral service for late media practitioner Donald Oliver will be held at the UWI Mona Chapel on Saturday, January 24.
The ceremony is scheduled to get underway at 11:00 am.
Oliver, an award-winning sports journalist, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 30.

His death, at 40 years old, came as a shock to the media fraternity and public, prompting an outpour of tributes from Government and Opposition representatives, sport organisations and social media users.
At the time of his death, Oliver was the audiovisual manager at the Jamaica Observer Media Group, having joined in August of 2025 following the closure of SportsMax. He had also previously worked at CVM TV and TVJ, where he made his mark as a senior producer and high-profile commentator for over two decades.
