Josef Bogdanovich mourns passing of Chris Bovell
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Businessman Josef Bogdanovich has paid tribute to veteran attorney-at-law Christopher Bovell, describing his death as a profound loss to Jamaica.
Bovell died on Wednesday after reportedly falling ill overseas.
In a statement on Thursday, Bogdanovich said he was “deeply saddened” by the loss of his longtime friend and colleague, whom he hailed as a man of immense integrity and wisdom.
“Chris was not only an outstanding attorney-at-law, but a man of immense integrity, wisdom and quiet strength whose impact on Jamaica’s legal, corporate and governance landscape is immeasurable,” Bogdanovich said.
Noting more than five decades of distinguished service, he said Bovell brought exceptional clarity and precision to every matter he touched.
“His expertise in corporate, commercial, banking, and mining law, along with his leadership in public-private partnership transactions, made him one of the most respected legal minds in this country. His counsel was always thoughtful, measured and rooted in principle,” Bogdanovich continued.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bogdanovich remembered Bovell as a trusted advisor and a steady presence, describing him as someone whose insight you valued not only for its accuracy, but for its fairness.
He noted that Bovell served Jamaica with distinction, whether through his work with major corporations, government institutions, boardrooms, or during his time in public service and corporate governance.
“I will remember Chris for his intellect, his humility and his unwavering commitment to excellence. Jamaica has lost a legal giant, and I have lost a friend,” Bogdanovich said.
He further extended condolences to Bovell’s family, colleagues and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
