St Andrew man facing multiple charges following firearm seizure in Stony Hill
KINGSTON, Jamaica—A St Andrew man has been charged in connection with the seizure of an Astra A-80 pistol during an operation on Airy Castle Road, Stony Hill, in the parish, on Monday, January 12.
He has been identified as 21-year-old De-Arlo Case of Cavaliers district, in St Andrew.
Case has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of identity information, unlawful possession of property, failure to comply with a request by a constable to stop and search a conveyance, no regulation plate, no certificate of fitness, no insurance coverage and attempting to escape from conveyance.
Reports from the Constant Spring police indicate that about 10:20 pm, a police team was on patrol in the area when Case was seen riding a motorcycle.
He was signalled to stop; however, on seeing the police, he attempted to make a U-turn but was unsuccessful. He then abandoned the motorcycle and fled on foot.
The team gave chase, and Case was apprehended and searched. The firearm, which was found in a bag that Case reportedly had in his possession, along with bank cards bearing names of individuals he could not account for.
He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. Case was formally charged on Monday after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
