Three arrested in Trinidad after multi-million dollar drug bust
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) — Three people, including a woman, are due to appear in court after they were arrested earlier this week following a multi-million dollar drug bust in Beetham Gardens in Trinidad, according to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).
It said that marijuana worth TT$8.6 million (One TT dollar=US$0.16 cents) had been seized during the operation on Wednesday after the police searched a house in accordance with the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2025 under the current state of emergency (SOE).
According to the TTPS, the search was carried out in the presence of the occupants of the premises and “while searching a bedroom, officers discovered 111 multi-coloured rectangular packages containing cannabis, weighing a combined total of 78.52 kilograms, with an estimated street value of $8,617, 334.44”.
The TTPS said that two men, ages 45 and 32, along with a woman, whose age was not disclosed, were arrested in connection with the discovery.
