Manchester farmer charged following shooting incident
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A farmer has been charged following a shooting incident in Mandeville, Manchester, on Tuesday, January 6.
He has been identified as 66-year-old Donald Salmon of Knockpatrick, Manchester.
Salmon has been charged with wounding with intent, unauthorised possession of ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon, using a firearm to commit a felony, and carrying a firearm without lawful authorisation.
Reports from the Mandeville police are that about 8:50 pm, Salmon was among patrons at a bar when an altercation developed between him and another man.
It is alleged that during the dispute, Salmon removed a firearm from his waistband, pointed it at the man, and opened fire, hitting him. He then made his escape on foot in the area.
The injured man was taken to hospital, where he was treated and admitted.
On Friday, January 16, Salmon turned himself in to the police and was later charged following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney.
A court date for him is being finalised.
