St Mary cabbie allegedly caught stealing from farm, charged
ST MARY, Jamaica — A taxi operator has been charged with larceny of produce following an incident at a farm in St Mary on Thursday, January 15.
He has been identified as 37-year-old Anthony Taylor, otherwise called ‘Waggy,’ of Nutsfield, Islington in the parish.
Reports from the Agricultural Protection Branch (APB), Area Two team, are that about 10:45 am, police were alerted by security personnel at the property that men were observed stealing produce from the farm.
Upon the arrival of the police, a search of the property was conducted, during which 74 dry coconuts, four empty bags, and one machete were found in the area where the men were last seen.
Shortly thereafter, a Toyota Probox was observed at another section of the farm being loaded with pineapples. The driver, upon seeing the police, sped off in the direction of Robinson Bay.
He was pursued by the police and later apprehended at his home, where more than 200 pineapples were found in his possession.
Taylor was taken into custody and subsequently charged.
A court date for him is being finalised.
