Jamaica qualifies for three bobsled spots at 2026 Winter Olympics
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica has successfully qualified for three spots in the 2026 Winter Olympics set for Italian cities in February.
The Jamaica Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation shared on Instagram that the three spots were secured by: Mica Moore in the Monobob event; the two-man team of Shane Pitter and Crew [Nimroy Turgott, Joel Fearon, Junior Harris]; and the four-man team of Shane Pitter and Crew [Andrae Dacres, Junior Harris, Tyquendo Tracey, Joel Fearon].
Noting that the qualifications confirm Jamaica as one of the most consistent tropical nations in winter sport, the federation shared that the qualifications equal Jamaica’s participation from the 2022 Beijing Games.
The federation also revealed that the Jamaican women’s two-woman team is currently ranked as the first alternate, pending any nation’s withdrawal.
“This achievement reflects sustained excellence, commitment and international competitiveness on the world stage,” it said.
The federation added that the qualification reflects season-long International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) ranking performances.
The Winter Olympics, also called Milano Cortina, will take place in Italy from February 6 – 22, 2026.
