Five retired ministers lauded
THEY have retired from active ministry but the excellent work done by five members of the clergy has not been forgotten. Foursquare Gospel Church District 5 recently held a ceremony to honour Reverends Levan Blye, Jennifer Spicer-Davis, Jasmine Whyte, Stanley Brown and Winston Flemmings.
Flemmings’ wife Lynneve also received recognition as the dedicated ministers were lauded for their outstanding service to the church and within their communities.
Each recipient has a unique story of service and dedication. Blye, assistant pastor of Hart Hill Foursquare Church in Portland, was praised for her nurturing spirit and 20 years of uplifting her church family and the community.
Spicer-Davis was described as a woman on a mission who returned to St Mary to rededicate her life to the Lord and lead House of Praise, Hart Hill, Portland. She was hailed as a faithful servant of the gospel , known for her grace and dedication.
Brown, with more than 20 years of service in the ministry, was recognised for his competence and exemplary work etich as a teacher, district supervisor and assistant pastor. Because of his nurturing and diligent mentoring of others entering the ministry, his church family refer to him as father. Members described him as strong and resilient and a tower of strength to the congregation and the community.
Although blind and with limited mobility, Winston Flemmings was described as a firebrand who served the Jacks River Foursquare Church with powerful and impactful work in spreading the gospel. His wife Lynneve was said to be his tower of strength through his pastoral journey as she stood by his side in doing God’s work.
Held at Annotto Bay Foursquare Gospel Church on January 11, the ceremony was a testament to the church’s commitment to recognising members who have given service above self.
