Kiprich and Kizzy Don launch GoFundMe to airlift premature baby to US for medical care
Dancehall artistes Kiprich and Kizzy Don have launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for their newborn daughter, Miracle, who was born prematurely while the couple was on a work trip in Colombia. The infant remains in intensive care at a medical facility in the country.
According to reports, Kizzy accompanied her partner to a stage show in Colombia. However, the unexpected early arrival of their child has left the couple stranded overseas and facing severe financial challenges.
“Her mom and I had travelled to Columbia for work, and before leaving the United States, she was healthy and had clearance from her doctor to travel,” Kiprich shared.
Due to Miracle’s premature birth and limited access to advanced medical facilities in Colombia, an estimated J$40 million is needed to airlift the baby to the United States, where she can receive specialised medical treatment. The high cost has prevented the family from returning home, compounding their emotional and physical strain.
“Despite her early arrival, Miracle’s heart beat is perfect and she is responding to sounds, showing her strength and will to fight,” Kizzy said.
The situation has drawn significant attention on social media, generating both widespread support and controversy. Some users have questioned the authenticity of the couple’s claims, with a few even accusing them of fabricating the story. In response, the couple have repeatedly gone live on social media to provide updates and appeal for assistance.
“We are truly devastated by this. I hope God sees us through,” Kizzy shared in one of her live sessions.
As the couple continues to face public scrutiny, their primary focus remains on securing the necessary medical care for their newborn daughter.
The campaign has raised more than US$19,000 of the US$250,000 target thus far. Those wishing to donate to the cause can do so via https://gofund.me/1f5236235.
