AfroSzn hits the scene with Jamaican DJs at the helm
KINGSTON, Jamaica— As part of what organisers are describing as a bold new-year regimen for Jamaica’s nightlife, a fresh cultural experience dubbed AfroSzn is about to take root.
Radio personalities DJ Powa and DJ Denvo, founders of AfroSzn, are inviting Kingston to tap into the pulse of Africa’s global sound on January 29, 2026.
Set for Dubwise in Kingston, the event promises rhythm, culture, and soulful vibes as it makes its local debut.
From 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., free of charge, patrons can expect an immersive Afro-centric music experience celebrating the sounds that are shaping dance floors worldwide.
Organisers say AfroSzn will be a tri-monthly Afro-centric music experience, curated by two of Jamaica’s most respected DJs.
Rooted in a shared vision, the concept was created to celebrate authentic African-influenced music, build a thriving community of Afro-music lovers, and provide a consistent premium space where Afro House, Afrobeats, Amapiano, and other African genres can truly thrive in Jamaica.
“AfroSzn is about intention,” said DJ Denvo. “We love dancehall and reggae — that’s our foundation — but Afro-centric sounds are global right now, and Jamaica needs a space that treats those genres with respect, structure, and consistency.”
He added, “This isn’t just another party; it’s a movement. A key part of that movement is educating the community about the culture, so people don’t just hear the music, but truly connect with it.”
Noting that Jamaica’s love for music is unmatched, organisers say Afro-centric genres such as Afro House, and Amapiano remain under-served in mainstream nightlife, despite their rapid growth among young urban audiences and their influence on global fashion, dance, and culture.
AfroSzn is an attempt to fill that gap by offering a home for these sounds — and a community built around them.
“People are already listening to this music, dancing to it, travelling for it,” added DJ Powa. He further expressed that he has been enthralled by Afro House for the past two-and-a-half years.
“There’s something embedded in the music that gives [sic] the feeling of being rooted. There’s no better way to describe it other than personally experiencing it,” he said.
Organisers cited the unmatched credibility DJ Denvo and DJ Powa bring to the brand.
DJ Denvo, an on-air personality on FAME 95FM and a seasoned events DJ, is known for his authentic music selections, effortless genre fusion, and strong background in music direction and radio programme management.
DJ Powa, also a DJ on FAME 95FM, is a highly sought-after name on the corporate and nightlife circuit. Renowned for his skillful blends, remixes, and seamless transitions between genres, Powa’s Afro House sound has cultivated a loyal following and earned him a reputation for delivering consistently high-energy, crowd-moving performances.
“We’re building something sustainable,” DJ Denvo statedd. “AfroSzn is culture, community, and lifestyle. If you love the music, you belong here.”
The event promoters say with perfect timing, a clearly underserved niche, and two powerful curators at the helm, AfroSzn is poised to redefine Afro-centric nightlife in Jamaica. What begins on January 29 is only the start of a long-term cultural movement — one that aims to grow into international tours and, ultimately, an AfroSzn Weekend Festival.
