Two wins for Herbert Morrison in ISSA basketball quarter-finals
HERBERT Morrison Technical got off to winning starts in the quarter-finals of the ISSA Rural Area Boys’ Basketball competition with victories over Garvey Maceo High and Old Harbour High in the Under-19 and Under-16 sections, respectively, in Montego Bay on Friday.
Herbert Morrison Technical won the Under-19 game 84-23 after earlier taking the Under-16 contest 69-22, extending their perfect win records in both sections this season.
Joshua Ferguson led all scorers with 34 points during the Under-19 game in which Herbert Morrison led 21-0 after the first quarter, 40-9 at half-time, and 63-12 going into the final quarter.
Aaron Rayson also scored 14 points while Ryan Jurdine added 10 for the winners. Nicade Bachan scored seven points for Garvey Maceo.
In the Under-16 game, Antonio Kerr and Trey Turner scored in double figures for Herbert Morrison who led from the start and were ahead 19-9 after the first quarter, 34-17 at half-time, and 50-19 at the end of the third quarter.
Kerr scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds while Turner finished with 16 points. Troy Phillips scored 10 of Old Harbour’s 22 points.
