Williams, Blake top the field at New Balance Grand Prix
Jamaicans put on a dominating show on Saturday with wins in the 60m and 60m hurdles at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, Massachusetts.
Danielle Williams stormed to victory in the 60m hurdles with a world-leading time of 7.87s, with Devynne Charlton of The Bahamas second in 7.92s and Christina Clemons of the United States third in 7.94s.
Williams was joined by Ackeem Blake, who ran a season’s best 6.53s to win the men’s 60m dash.
Blake had been the favourite to top the race and he did not disappoint, finishing ahead of Puerto Rico’s Eloy Benitez, who ran 6.56s for second, and Jordan Anthony of the United States, who was third in 6.57s.
Another Jamaican, Briana Lyston, also placed well in the women’s event as she scored silver in 7.11s seconds, just behind Great Britain’s Dina Asher Smith, who won in 7.08s, in a season’s best.
