Do you believe in miracles?
JESUS began His ministry by preaching and performing tremendous miracles to heal and astound people. What is it about this man that everywhere He went people followed Him? He had power and authority that overcame the natural boundaries of any man.
In our times, scholars don’t believe in miracles but will admit they were some great works of Christ. But there it is, stated in fact, that Christ, even from the time of His childhood, revealed knowledge in His discourse, astounding the elders with His wisdom.
Then there were His miracles. Do you believe in miracles, brothers and sisters? Do you believe in healing? This young man, Christ, preached and performed miracles way above any other man, not only with the authority in which He spoke but also the great deeds that He did. You must study the scriptures as historical facts, attested to by the great Gospel writers — Matthew, Mark, Luke and John — and the prophets and patriarchs who testified in a most profound way of the ways and acts of God from the beginning of the world.
It is important, my friends, that we be able to recount all those great deeds, but especially to focus upon the works of Jesus Christ, the Man/God concerned with the redemption of mankind from all sin, suffering and death. Whether it be the man who is placed down the roof and cured, whether it is the blind who see or the deaf who are healed or the lepers who are cleansed. Does this man stand out as He should in the mind of us Christians? Isn’t this man truly God?
It is not magic nor is it mythology; these tales told about Jesus Christ. They are actual miracles; and as you follow through His life with meditation, reflection, and discussion, as part of our growth in faith we cannot help but believe in this divine Son of God, Jesus Christ.
There are miracles that are happening now in our everyday lives, including our centres where our brothers work. How can it be that people filled with grief, forgotten and sad, are now filled with joy? How can it be that those who could not walk begin to walk? How can it be that 5,000 meals are fed each day to the poorest and forgotten in our 14 missions; it is really Christ’s actions.
Do you believe in miracles? Do you believe, first of all, in Christ? Do you believe Christ works in the lives of our benefactors and friends, and our brothers caring for the poorest of the poor, giving up all the pleasures of the world?
Love brings about actions that are not normal. The miracle of love, living in the ghettos, taking care of the people, choosing to live among the poorest instead of among the richest. When you see the brothers living out the life of Christ you see the power of love and care within them. When you see them living out the life of poverty, chastity, and obedience each day, you know that it is the supernatural power of Christ living and working in them.
Yes, there are miracles when we seek to live out the life of Christ each day.
